I realize my form, style and subject matter comes from my life experiences. I love to sit and observe nature, people, the sun, the stars and the universe in general. I find that if one sits and listens and observes, one can find all sorts of unique inspiration.
One of my favorite artists of all time is Peter Max. His free style brush strokes, his vibrant mix and choices of colors and his life as a person who practices yoga and mediation on a daily basis is someone who inspires me. Georgia O’Keefe is another such artist; her vibrant flowers and peaceful southwestern art are renowned. But to me her subject matter and how she depicts them in her paintings is amazing.
My style is my own. I do not follow the guidelines of traditional painting except that I do love the solid and distinct brush strokes of the Impressionists. I love to mix and play with paint. Watch how the colors blend together. Watch how they appear on various forms of canvases. Watch how they make a mess. And especially watch the reactions of the viewer. I hope that my paintings bring you in, make you happy, make you contemplate, or reflect and always makes you wonder what I was thinking when I painted it!!
